41 short little lessons... from my 41 years on the planet

And as I turn 41, I’ve been reflecting on life and how grateful I am for the 41 years I have had and the lessons I have learnt…
And so today, as a gift from me to you, I wanted to share with you - 41 short bits of advice, any one of which could change your life.

- Most things aren’t that deep
- You will feel old at 28. But you aren’t. You also aren’t old at 48
- The best thing money can buy is freedom
- It costs nothing to thank the waiter for their hard work
- Tell the important people in your life that you love them. One day they will be gone and you’ll wish you had the chance to say it
- Taking action is the quickest way to create motivation
- Forgive quickly - carrying around bad vibes hurts you more than them
- 99.9% of people on the planet are good people
- Always carry safety pins (learnt when the zip on my favourite playsuit failed on a night out)
- Helping others is the quickest way to make you feel good about yourself
- When you feel your energy rise, take note of who you are surrounded by
- And then spend more time with those people
- Finding a mentor who’s done what you want to do can change your life
- If you grew up in a house with two parents who loved each other and loved you, you f*cking won the lottery of life
- Know when a friendship has run it course and be ok to let it go quietly
- Get a shower with good pressure and decent hot water - a strong hot shower at the end of the day can solve most of life small problems (as can a cold one if thats your thing!)
- Money spent on self-improvement and learning is money well spent
- A solid, replicable process beats a well-thought out goal every time (the goal is achieved because of the process)
- Seeing something come to life that once only existed in your mind is a buzz that is hard to explain
- Because of the above, you should get creating
- It’s good to have at least one old friend - they help keep your feet on the ground when the success comes
- Picking up the phone and having a chat is the quickest way to resolve most arguments that start over message
- What you achieve at school really won’t matter that much in the long run
- Start investing in low-cost index funds in your 20’s
- Knowing how to ask for help is a super power
- Not everyone will like you. And thats ok
- Most things people do come from a place of love - even if it isn’t obvious to you
- Stop being easily offended
- Have at least a few people in your life that share the opposite view to you - it will keep you humble and remind you that there are at least 2 sides to everything
- Use people’s names when speaking to them - a persons name is the sweetest sound they ever hear
- You don’t always have to correct someone if they are wrong - in my most cases leaving it uncorrected won’t hurt anyone
- Your health is worth more than anything. Without your health, the rest isn’t possible.
- Never leave an argument unresolved
- When it comes to investing, the biggest leverage you have is time. Start investing - even small amounts - NOW!
- If it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t
- When writing an angry message, wait 1 hour and come back to it before you decide to press send
- You don’t have to have a relationship with all your blood relatives - if they share your blood but are toxic, its ok to spend less time with them
- Keep your bed made and your house tidy. A messy house = a messy mind ;-)
- Buy the nicest mattress, pillows and bed linen you can afford - there is no price you can put on a good nights sleep
- Life rarely turns out the way you think it will
- Not everyone will make it past 30. If you make it past 30, celebrate it - EVERY SINGLE DAY.
